IS THE PAST STILL LIVING IN YOUR PRESENT?

Do you find yourself?:

  • Constantly Triggered? Reacting to small stresses with intense panic, anger, or a “freeze” response.
  • Disconnected or Numb? Navigating life through a lens of dissociation or feeling “spaced out.”
  • Stuck in the “Survival Loop”: Living in a state of hyper-vigilance, unable to truly relax even when you are safe.
  • Caught in “Body Memories”: Experiencing sudden flashbacks, nightmares, or physical sensations that make it feel like the trauma is happening right now.
  • Navigating Emotional Dysregulation? Managing overwhelming waves of shame, guilt, or sudden outbursts.
  • Reacting from a Younger Self? Finding adult situations filtered through a child’s intense fear or defensive posture.

Whether you are navigating the world with a neurodivergent brain or are a neurotypical professional facing high-level burnout,
the experience of being ‘stuck’ in your nervous system requires a specialist approach.

You aren’t “weak” or “dramatic.”
Your body is simply maintaining the survival strategies it once needed for safety.

TRAUMA IS AN IMPRINT, NOT JUST A MEMORY

Trauma is not just a story about what happened to you. It is a physical and energetic imprint left on your nervous system and biofield. When we experience overwhelming events, whether a single shock (PTSD) or years of relational neglect and abuse (C-PTSD), our system can become “stuck” in survival mode.

When left untreated, it leads to chronic high alert, exhaustion, and a fragmented sense of self. We don’t just “switch that off”; we rebalance your system so you can move from surviving to thriving.

The Spectrum of Trauma

Healing from trauma is one of the most courageous journeys you can take. Whether you are struggling with a single distressing event or the long-term effects of “survival mode,” I support you with compassion, respect, and a deep understanding of how trauma manifests.

PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder)
PTSD often follows a single life-threatening event. It is a natural response to an unnatural event where your system cannot “reset” to safety. It is characterised by :

  • Re-experiencing: Flashbacks, nightmares, and intrusive memories.
  • Avoidance: Staying away from people, places, or thoughts that remind you of the event.
  • Hyperarousal & Reactivity: Being triggered, easily startled, feeling “on edge,” or having difficulty sleeping.
  • Cognition & Mood: Struggling to remember aspects of the event, persistent negative emotions, ruminating, and feelings of shame or guilt.

Complex PTSD (C-PTSD)
C-PTSD – often referred to as Developmental Trauma, results from prolonged or repeated trauma, usually within an interpersonal relationship where escape was difficult or impossible (such as childhood neglect, narcissistic abuse or domestic captivity ).

In addition to the standard symptoms of PTSD, Complex PTSD includes a “disturbing of the self” which manifests through:

  • Emotional Dysregulation: Persistent difficulties in managing intense emotions, leading to explosive anger, depression, or chronic suicidal thoughts.
  • Negative Self-Concept: Deep-seated feelings of worthlessness, shame, guilt, and the persistent sense of being “different” or “broken.”
  • Interpersonal Difficulties: Challenges in maintaining relationships, feeling disconnected from others, or repeatedly seeking out/avoiding certain types of dynamics.
  • Alterations in Consciousness: Frequent dissociation, “shutting down,” or feeling “out of body.”

Is your situation more complex? If you are navigating the intersection
of Narcissistic Abuse, Neurodivergence, and Physical Burnout,
a standard track may not be enough. Explore the Intertwined Container here

Why Specialist Support Matters

I don’t believe in ‘fixing’ people. Throughout three decades of work, I have observed that healing is about Integration, not just repair. I offer a high-level, grounded space for those who need more than just ‘talk therapy’ to resolve deep-seated trauma.

I believe that the damage done by trauma is not a life sentence, but a profound disruption of your natural state of being. It steals your presence, but it doesn’t have to be permanent.

I don’t see my clients as ‘victims’ to be fixed. I see you as a person with an incredibly resilient nervous system that did exactly what it needed to do to keep you alive. However, traditional “talk therapy” often relies on top-down processing (logic and reasoning). Because trauma is stored bottom-up in the body, the brainstem, and the energy field, you cannot “talk” your nervous system out of a flashback or “reason” your way out of a survival response.

By combining trauma-informed expertise with advanced energy psychology, I provide a truly multidimensional pathway to Recovery. We don’t push for “breakthroughs”; we build a foundation of safety so that healing can happen naturally.

A Sanctuary for the ‘Too Much’

If you have felt “too much” for traditional therapy, or if talking about the past hasn’t changed how it feels in your body today, you are in the right place. Many of my clients have spent years searching for the “missing piece,” feeling like they’ve failed at therapy because symptoms keep returning.

I offer a different kind of holding

  • A Somatic & Energetic Lens: We work with how your story is trapped in your body and energy field, not just the story itself.
  • Neuro-Affirming Care: I celebrate how your unique brain navigates the world, ensuring therapy fits you—not the other way around.
  • Radical Compassion & Validation-Focused: A non-judgmental container for the parts of you that feel “too broken” for standard clinical settings.
  • Relational Depth: I am not a “blank slate” therapist. I am a human being in the room with you, offering an authentic, therapeutic relationship.
“I want you to take a deep breath.
You have survived a prolonged and invisible storm, and I am here to help you reach the shore.”

MY INTEGRATED Recovery APPROACH: A Multidimensional Path to Healing

My practice is built on the understanding that the mind and body are an indivisible system. To heal trauma, we must work with the language of the nervous system, not just the language of the intellect.

  • Somatic-Energetic Integration: We work to identify where trauma is “held” in the body. By gently regulating the autonomic nervous system, we can release the charge of old survival responses (Fight/Flight/Freeze/Fawn) without overwhelming re-traumatisation.
  • Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy (The Mind): Using Psychodynamic and Integrative tools, we recalibrate the “Survival Mask.” We view your symptoms not as “disorders,” but as brilliant survival strategies. We process the “lost years,” working through internalised shame and the grief of living in survival mode.
  • Inner Child & Unconscious Work (The Soul): Beyond the symptoms lies the person. We explore the broader context of your experience, integrating the spiritual or “bigger picture” aspects of your journey to help you find meaning and a renewed sense of purpose.
  • Neuro-Affirming Framework: I provide a space that celebrates cognitive diversity. Whether you are formally diagnosed or self-identified as neurodivergent, our work is adapted to suit your specific sensory needs and processing styles. I don’t try to “fix” how your brain works; I help you understand its unique architecture so you can move forward with regulation, ease, and clarity.
  • Integrative Synthesis: I weave together contemporary neuroscience, attachment theory, psychotherapeutic modalities and ancient wisdom traditions to create a bespoke Recovery map tailored specifically to your internal landscape.
“The goal of trauma recovery is not just to survive the past,
but to inhabit the present with a sense of safety, agency, and peace.”

THE FRAMEWORK FOR RECOVERY: A SYNTHESIS OF DEPTH

My practice is not a “one-size-fits-all” protocol. It is a high-level clinical synthesis designed for those who require a more sophisticated approach than standard talk therapy.

We work at the intersection of contemporary neuroscience and depth psychotherapy to achieve Integration.

The Focus of Our Work:

  • Nervous System Autonomy: Moving beyond cognitive understanding to address the physiological imprints of trauma. We work to expand your “Window of Tolerance,” allowing you to navigate life’s stressors without becoming overwhelmed or shutting down.
  • Somatic-Energetic Alignment: Identifying and resolving the “stuck” survival responses (Fight/Flight/Freeze) held within the body’s systems, fostering a genuine sense of internal safety.
  • Neuro-Affirming Integration: A bespoke environment that respects and adapts to your unique cognitive wiring, ensuring the therapeutic process works with your brain, not against it.
  • Coherence of Self: Weaving together fragmented experiences into a unified, empowered narrative, moving you from a state of “surviving” to a state of “thriving.”

WHAT WE CAN EXPLORE TOGETHER

Our work is about more than just symptom management; it is about transforming the structures that keep you small and reclaiming your right to exist fully.

  • Emotional Regulation & Sensitivity: Building a toolkit for safety to navigate intense emotional waves, C-PTSD, PTSD or “Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria” (RSD), and the feeling of being easily overwhelmed by external stressors.
  • Navigating Dissociation & Trauma Burnout: We develop gentle strategies to help you come back to your body when you feel disconnected and provide a roadmap for Recovery from the deep exhaustion of chronic survival mode.
  • Restoring Choice and Control: Trauma is defined by powerlessness. Our sessions are built on your agency, empowering you to stay in the driver’s seat of your healing.
  • Resolving the “Story” in the Body: Working through the physical sensations and “gut feelings” that keep you tethered to the past, allowing your nervous system to finally register that the danger has passed.
  • Setting Boundaries: We work to release the habit of hypervigilantly monitoring others’ moods to feel safe. You will learn to set firm, healthy boundaries and discover who you are when you stop performing for others.
  • Healing the “Core Shame” through Validation: We transform the belief that you are “wrong” or “difficult” by providing the radical validation you were denied. We view your traits as brilliant survival responses to an unsafe environment.
  • Self-Empowerment & New Coping Mechanisms: We replace outdated survival habits with sustainable, life-affirming tools that help you thrive in the present, rather than survive the past.

The Journey: From Surviving to Internal Safety.

Healing from PTSD, C-PTSD, and deep-seated trauma is not a linear path, but a structured process of reclaiming your life. We move through three essential phases of Recovery:

Phase 1: Safety & Stabilisation (The Resource Toolkit)
Before we dive into the past, we ensure you are anchored in the present. We focus on Somatic Safety—calming the chronic “Fight-or-Flight” response and healing somatic burnout.
The Outcome: You will develop practical skills to manage triggers and flashbacks, moving out of constant “High Alert” so your body can finally feel like a safe place to be. You will learn to trust your natural protective instincts without the exhaustion of hypervigilance.

Phase 2: Processing & Integration (The Neurological Reset)
Using specialised somatic and energetic techniques, we gently approach traumatic imprints to discharge the “stuck” survival energy. We don’t just re-tell the story; we transform your relationship to it.
The Outcome: A significant reduction in the intensity of panic and anxiety. By rebuilding neuroplasticity, we safely integrate memories so they no longer dictate your present. This leads to Cognitive Clarity—as the “Trauma Brain Fog” clears, your focus and physical energy return.

Phase 3: Post-Traumatic Growth (Reclaiming the Self)
This is where we move beyond “fixing” and into “becoming.” We recalibrate the “Survival Mask” and the “Fawn Response” to find the person underneath the trauma.
The Outcome: You move from self-blame to self-compassion. You will find it easier to connect with others from a place of authenticity rather than performance, with firm, healthy boundaries.

“You have spent long enough in the storm. It is time to come home to yourself.”

If you are ready to move beyond just “managing” your symptoms and want to begin
the deep work of resolution and reclamation, I am here to walk that path with you.
Together, we will ensure that your nervous system finally knows it is safe to let go, breathe, and begin to live again.

Why Choose Me: UKCP Psychotherapist & Clinical Supervisor

With over 20 years of clinical psychotherapeutic experience and 30 years of immersion in energetic practices, I offer a rare synthesis of depth and safety. As a UKCP-accredited practitioner, I adhere to the highest standards of clinical ethics and professional oversight.

My work is not about “fixing” you. It is about removing the obstacles—the trauma imprints and survival strategies—that prevent you from accessing your innate resilience and wholeness. I provide the clinical containment and expert guidance you need to navigate the path from fragmentation to Integration safely.

My role is to act as a bridge—combining the grounded safety of clinical science with the transformative power of somatic regulation to help you move from survival to thriving.

Neuro-Affirming Radical Validation

I have a deep clinical interest in how neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism) intersects with abusive dynamics or trauma. My practice is a sanctuary for the neurodivergent and those who have felt “too much” for traditional therapy. I view your symptoms—from hypervigilance to chronic exhaustion—not as “disorders,” but as brilliant survival strategies. Together, we dismantle the “Core Shame” of being misunderstood, providing practical, judgment-free strategies that respect your unique way of processing the world.

Restoring Agency and Outcome

Trauma is an experience of powerlessness; therefore, healing must be an experience of absolute agency. Our work is collaborative, transparent, and outcome-focused. We set specific goals to dismantle the structures that keep you small, and we regularly monitor your progress to ensure you move from surviving to embodied living. You are the expert on your experience.

MORE ABOUT KARYN

“My role is to hold the lantern as we walk through the darkness together, ensuring you feel safe, grounded, and, perhaps, for the first time in a long time.”

Is This the Right Fit for You?

To ensure you receive the specific level of care you need, please note that my practice is dedicated to the Recovery and Rebuilding phase.

This work is NOT the right fit if:

  • You are currently in an active domestic violence situation: If you are in immediate physical danger, please get in touch with your GP or Crisis line for emergency safety planning.
  • You are in an acute mental health crisis: If you are experiencing active suicidal ideation or require 24/7 crisis intervention, please get in touch with your local emergency services.
  • You are looking for “quick tips” to change, or you are unable to commit to regular somatic grounding practices between sessions. My focus is on deep-process healing, autonomy, and the total reconstruction of your sense of self.

THE FIRST STEP: YOUR INITIAL CONSULTATION

Taking the first step toward Recovery can feel daunting, especially when your trust has been broken. To ensure you feel fully supported from the very first moment, I don’t offer 15-minute discovery calls because your story is too complex for a ‘quick chat.’ I believe in providing a safe, contained, and professional environment from our very first minute together.

We begin with a full 90-minute Initial Consultation. This gives you the space to be heard without being rushed.

  • A Gentle Arrival: You don’t need a perfect script. You will have the floor to share your story and how it is currently impacting your life and body.
  • The Safety Check: Because trauma lives in the nervous system, we use grounding techniques throughout the session to ensure you stay regulated.
  • The Clinical Roadmap: I will share my reflections on why your brain is reacting this way and offer a clear vision of how we move from “survival” to “revival.”
  • Leaving Grounded: We never end a session while you are in high distress. The final 15 minutes are dedicated to “sealing” the work so you feel safe to return to your day.
  • The “Fit” Check: At the end of this session, we will both know if we resonate. If it feels right, we discuss a rhythm for your Recovery. If we aren’t the perfect fit, I will gently guide you toward a specialist who is.

Terms of Engagement & Clinical Safety

To maintain the professional integrity and clinical focus of our work, the following terms apply to all consultations, single sessions, and therapy blocks. Please click and read before booking your assessment:
  • Payment & Investment: To honour the depth and preparation this work requires, full payment is due at the time of booking. For those engaging in intensive therapy blocks, flexible payment options (including “Buy Now, Pay Later”) are available at checkout to support access to this level of care and help manage your investment in your well-being.
  • The Therapeutic Container & Booking Paths: The efficacy of neuro-somatic and clinical therapy—particularly in recovery from complex trauma and neuro-affirming support—relies on consistent momentum and the cumulative effect of our work together.
  • Block Bookings & Fixed Rhythm: To protect your clinical progress, block sessions are held on a fixed weekly or fortnightly schedule, creating a stable, reliable rhythm for your nervous system.
  • Specialist Ad-Hoc Sessions & Maintenance Policy: Ad hoc sessions are reserved exclusively for clients who have completed an initial container and are offered at my clinical discretion. Because somatic trauma work relies on active nervous system tracking, and to maintain the safety, continuity, and momentum of this work, Ad-Hoc sessions must be scheduled no more than 4 weeks apart. If you require a break longer than 4 weeks, we will close the active container, and any future work will begin through a new commitment block.
  • Consistency, Attendance & Slot Commitment: When you book a session or block, that time is dedicated exclusively to your clinical journey and cannot be offered to anyone else. To maintain the integrity of the therapeutic container and support deep transformation:
  1. Strict Policy: I operate a strict no-refund, no-cancellation, and no-postponement Policy.
  2. Fixed Slots: Once a session is confirmed, it is fixed. Sessions cannot be moved, credited, rolled over, or refunded. This fixed structure is not an administrative rule; it is an energetic container explicitly designed to help your nervous system settle into a reliable rhythm of safety.
  3. Missed Sessions: Any missed or unattended sessions within a block are charged at the full rate. This Policy ensures that we both remain fully committed to the clinical momentum required for your healing and growth.
  • Honouring The Ending Process: Because our work is deep, neuro-somatic, and relational, the ending process is as important as the beginning. We intentionally build in a closing phase to ensure your nervous system remains settled and your gains are fully integrated before we conclude our work together.
  • Professional Ethics & Privacy: I operate in strict accordance with UKCP ethical guidelines and UK law. A UKCP-accredited supervisor regularly reviews my clinical practice to maintain the highest standards of safety and care. In compliance with GDPR, I store all client records securely. Click here to view the full Privacy Policy.
  • Safety & Safeguarding: This is a specialist psychological Recovery service, not an emergency crisis line. Confidentiality is maintained at all times unless there is a significant risk of harm to yourself or others. If you are currently experiencing an emergency, fear for your physical safety, or are in an acute mental health crisis, please get in touch with your local emergency services (999 in the UK) or the Crisis line.

Frequently Asked Questions: Trauma Recovery

View here:

Why are the sessions 90 minutes instead of the standard 50 minutes?
Trauma work requires a different “tempo.” It often takes the nervous system 20–30 minutes to settle into a state of safety. A 90-minute session ensures we have ample time to go deep into the work without feeling rushed and, most importantly, enough time to regulate your system before you return to your day safely.

Will I have to re-tell my entire trauma history in the first session?
No. In fact, “flooding” the system with too much detail too soon can be re-traumatising. We focus on “Trauma Mapping” (identifying the patterns and the physiological impact) of your history. We work at the pace of your nervous system, ensuring you always feel in control of what you share.

How is this different from the talk therapy I’ve done before?
Talk therapy stays in the “thinking” brain (the prefrontal cortex). Complex trauma and C-PTSD are stored in the “survival” brain and the body. My approach uses Energy Psychotherapy and somatic regulation to target the physiological roots of the trauma, clearing the emotional “charge” that talk therapy often leaves untouched.

I suspect I am Neurodivergent (ADHD/Autism/HSP). Does this change the therapy?
Absolutely. Traditional trauma therapy can sometimes be overwhelming for neurodivergent brains. My practice is neuro-affirming, meaning we adapt every technique to suit your sensory profile and processing style. We don’t try to “fix” your neurotype; we heal the trauma that has been layered on top of it.

What is Energy Psychotherapy (EP)?
EP is a specialist modality that combines traditional psychological insights with the clearing of energetic and somatic blockages. It is particularly effective for “stuck” trauma responses, such as chronic shame or hyper-vigilance often left behind by narcissistic abuse.

Is Energy Psychotherapy “woo-woo” or is it evidence-based?
It bridges clinical science and energetic healing. I utilise protocols aligned with the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology (ACEP) that work directly with the body’s biofield and nervous system. These methods are designed to clear “stuck” emotional patterns and trauma responses that traditional talk therapy often cannot reach. It is a structured, somatic approach to regulation that is increasingly supported by research into the mind-body connection and neurobiology.

Do I have to commit to weekly sessions?
Not necessarily. Because our 90-minute “Deep Dive” sessions are significantly more intensive than the standard clinical hour, many clients find that bi-weekly (fortnightly) sessions provide the necessary space for deep integration. However, if you are currently navigating an acute crisis or a period of high distress, we may decide that weekly sessions are more appropriate to provide the necessary containment. We will tailor the frequency to your specific capacity and therapeutic goals.

How many sessions will I need?
Recovery from complex trauma is a journey, not a quick fix. While many clients feel a significant shift in their nervous system within the first 6 sessions, long-term stabilisation and “re-wiring” of the trauma response typically require a committed container of 12 sessions or more.

Why do you offer block sessions?
Consistency is the “medicine” for trauma. Block sessions ensure you have a dedicated, recurring space in my diary, which creates a sense of safety and “momentum” for your nervous system. It also allows us to commit to a deep-dive process without the administrative distraction of session-by-session booking.

Is my information confidential?
Yes. Your safety and privacy are paramount. All sessions are strictly confidential and held within a secure, professional, and non-judgmental clinical framework, in accordance with UKCP ethical guidelines and GDPR data protection standards.

You Don’t Have to Stay Stuck in Survival Mode.

Living with the echoes of trauma is exhausting.
It drains your energy, strains your relationships, and clouds your sense of who you truly are.
But you are not “broken,” and you are not “different” in a way that cannot be healed;
You are a person who has survived unnatural circumstances.

I know how much courage it took to seek this support today.

Your “internal critic” may be telling you to wait or that you should be able to handle this alone.
But you have handled enough alone. Let’s begin the process of bringing you back to your authentic self.
