Data Controller
The Data Controller is Awaken Inner Sense Ltd (ICO Registration No: ZA913992). I am committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of the information you share with me.
- Information Collection & Legal Basis.
I collect personal data (such as your name, contact details, and emergency contact) and “Special Category” data (clinical notes, health history, and somatic narratives).
Legal Basis: I process this data under the Basis of Contract (to provide the service you have booked) and Health & Social Care (to ensure safe and effective clinical therapy).
2. Remote & Online Security (The “Digital Container”)
All remote sessions are conducted via a Therapeutically Protected Zoom environment or secure telephone line.
No Recording: To protect your privacy and the clinical integrity of the work, sessions are never recorded by Awaken Inner Sense Ltd unless otherwise agreed with consent. Clients are strictly prohibited from recording sessions.
Data in Transit: I use end-to-end encrypted platforms to ensure that our video/audio communication remains private.
3. Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using encrypted, GDPR-compliant platforms. I adhere to the strict ethical and professional standards of the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy). Your information is never shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Confidentiality & Disclosure
Confidentiality is a cornerstone of clinical practice. Information is only shared in the following exceptional circumstances:
- Clinical Supervision: As required by professional ethics, I discuss cases with a qualified supervisor (your identity remains protected).
2. Legal Requirement: If a court of law subpoenas me.
3. Safety: If there is a significant risk of serious harm to yourself or others.
5. Data Retention
In accordance with clinical insurance and UKCP guidelines, clinical records are typically retained for 7 years after the conclusion of therapy, after which they are securely destroyed.
6. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access your data, request corrections, or object to processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office) if you have concerns about how your data is handled.
